There is a Ducati in my garage ...
My good friend went down today at Oz. Just got back from the hospital.
Cliffnotes:
-Went wide, stood bike up for braking/decel, went off road, front wheel hit a rock hard and swung the bike around to the left sliding him and the bike along some dirt with a lot of rocks.
Lost some flesh on his left calf, and also a deep puncture right above his left ankle (front of leg). Doctors got his leg all stitched/stapled up ... he's waiting n the orthopedic surgeon to be available to do the surgery required for his forearm, dislocated/broke it pretty bad.
Some pictures from earlier in the day:
Coming out of this corner is where he went wide, I think he was trying to chase the guy on the 1000rr (who is realllly fast, he accidentally touched his knee down going around the 90 degree turn out here at this place .. yes we have pictures lol)
Bike runs fine seemingly, no leaks ... new wheel, maybe one new rotor, and definitely some fairings and he should be good to go.
I know he needs to work on his form, we're planning on doing some trackdays over the summer when school is out. I've been trying and trying to get him to buy boots as well, I bet he will after this.
So yes, Oz has been christened sadly

The Dainese jacket he has (complete with aero hump on the back) was over $600 as well.
But hey, his choice ... he played it smart, did good in high school and got a lot of scholarship money (we go to FGCU together). He's not from a wealthy family by any means ... although his dad has a speed tripple, older brother has a C6 Z06, MV Brutale, MV F4, 08 R1
You get a degree, and a good job and your set right?

ouch... I wouldn't plan to much with him. I may be off a bike for a while with that arm.
either way. glad he had some gear, if not all of it. and once again its a reminder that 99% of the time. standing the bike up and taking off roading is worse than just throwing it in the corner and hoping it sticks.
