I'm fuckin bored...
Yup... insanely bored. So I thought I'd check out what is new in my old hobbie.
Audio.
So I check up on what is new in the Dayton Referrence line at Parts Express, my referrence in speakers.
And I had totally forgotten that the Dayton RS52 was out. That thing is just bad ass. Copper in the coil has its merits, and it shows in the distortion charts posted ad DIYAudio. Thinking I could put those bad boys in the kicks to replace my RS150's and get an even better dispersion, stage width and center vocals without a center channel.
Thinking of crossing them over from 600hz to 8khz, and leaving my LPG silk domes in the A-Pillars to handle everything from 8khz and up. Should blend in well in theory.
Then I could match the bottom end with some RS225's from 40hz to 600hz in the doors & leave my Diamond Audio M6v2 12" to handle the remaining bottom end from 40 or 50 down. Yes I know I shouldn't overlap my xOver points, but it is all good in my truck since the resonances with a down firing sub are not causing any cancellation... purty kewl.
This is really tempting, even though my current setup (LPG Tweets, RS150s & Peerless XLS
is not doing anything wrong. As a matter of fact I beat a DLS sponsored vehicle in SQ with it... but those 2" domes are calling me to try them out... Can't seem to think of why it wouldn't be worth it... its enclosed in its own sealed chamber so its damn near fool proof and should work well...
Not to mention the car environment is really noisy and the sensitivity being above 90db is just insane!!! very efficient, should keep the amps cooler and still put out like a whore working for free in a BAFM fuck fest...
So what do you guys think? Should I make the change?
Also diggin the new Infinity Kappa series amps and Pioneer PRS amps as well...
And that Premier PRS880 HU is just tits!

I'm kind of glad not to have these issues anymore... I've left the Bose Concert gold whatever system alone in my Audi. It isn't the best, but it's good enough that it's not worth the hassle of replacing.

Now that said, they do get decent sound out of common technologies, but I have a real hard problem spending exotic prices for paper cone woofers in fancy transmission line enclosures. They need to get the fuck out with that shit...
