Default So I went down this past Sunday...

Going 20 mph. I was making a left turn from Lumsden to Kings @ 10am. I hit some sand and my rear tire kicked out (it had some life in it, but I should have known better) and I saved it but got nasty tank slap in the process. I tagged the curb of the mobil gas station and went flying into driveway of the gas station, bike slid after flipping. I hit no cars and some people at the gas station called 911. I got a nice gash under chin from somewhere (a friend told me it could have been my helmet strap), my left glove ripped partially @ the fingers, my pants didn't rip, but I got scrapes on my knees, and I didn't break anything. I was wearing all my gear and attribute that to being as well off as I am. Bike is pretty trashed. The curb broke off a part of my engine cover, all my pastics are gone, bent both wheels, and tweaked my swingarm. Pics will be up later. I'm not afraid to get back on, but I'm not happy about the bike being as bad as it is. A guy on a black R1 was there until the EMTs let me stand up (I was hurting a bit, but not too bad) then he left. Now I'm a rider who has gone down, instead of one who is going to.

I was wondering that too, but my guess is using the back brake.

Actually I wasn't using the rear brake. I don't think I was on too hard, but like I said my rear tire was needing replacement soon, so I'm going to assume that was the culprit. I was also at a red light and it turned green, so I was coming from a stop. Thanks for the kind words.

Edit:

Can't see the rear tire too well. Its currently in a friend's garage, so Ill see what I can do about better pics.

No, no fire that I know of. They said it was a preventative measure. Bad news is it might be a very expensive bill. :/ I won't know until sometime next week. No stiches, the gash was close via super glue/liquid band aid.

damn.. that sucks man. freak shit happens sometimes. I wouldn't blame a bald back tire if it was sand. not even a new tire does well with that.

glad your ok but wow the bike looks fucked in that pic.
