Default My new MSV...

Well most of you know that I blew up my 98 Cobra. So I worked out a trade for this.........

5.7 Vortec Tahoe SLT 4x4. I love this thing. I thought gas was going to be bad but it gets better MPG then my Jeep. We just took it to Orlando and back this morning on 30 bucks. Plus I can tow a bus with this thing.

I know that the tail lights HAVE to go!

It also has a 3inch body lift. Now I just need bigger tires.

Spun a main bearing. Those motors are known for doing that. So much I couldn't find a block for it in the state of FL.

Damn that sucks!
And yes... for some damn reason... Chevy v8's offer the best gas milage... My Dodge is tearing me a new cornhole... 13mpg in the city 18hwy. I've heard of Chevy trucks doing 18-20 city... sick!

I pay mine off in 17moths... can't wait!

mod motor, mod motor, mod motor.

spinning bearing is all those things do.

i sware i changed almost 10 (total 2v&4v) in the year i worked in that mustang shop.

good job on picking a chevy. much better than ford or dodge.

as for the mpg, starting with the vortec headed gen 1's they followed what the aftermarket head makers had learned in full on race heads, which mean you could make peak power without running a ton of timing.(unlike the gen 2's which needed 40*+) and carried it on into the lsx motors.

ford dropped the ball when they went to a long stroke, small piston low end TQ design and topped it with over head cams like a short stroke big piston motor should have.... failed ever since.

John... sounds like you know a bit about the truck motors...

Question...

What don't you like about the 5.7Hemi... besides not being a real Hemi and being a gas hog. (Still better than a Ford 4.6, 5.2 IMO)

Also... You hear anything negative about supercharging the 5,7Hemi? I hard from one guy that the heads can't take much more than 6psi...
