Default dam all these ??? for a simple sprocket/gearing change! help!

searched and didnt find alot on this ,and i know some dudes on here know...so please help trying to do this right the first time. i have only 2k on my 04 gsxr600 and was looking for a good upgrade. whats the best way to go?? isnt it somthing like down 1 up 2 ?? and is that 1 tooth smaller on the front and 2 teeth bigger on the rear? DO YOU HAVE TO BUY AN ENTIRE KIT(FRONT/REAR SPROCKET/CHAIN)? or since my bike has low miles can i just change the sprockets with my stock chain? or would a cheaper route be buy the biggest rear sprocket that will fit with the stock chain? sorry for all the questions. i hope some knowledable person could make this simple for me. i have a little bit of $$ but just want to go the smartest route. thanks alot......................

f that, ur chain isnt even worn in yet, id seriously settle for just sprockets rather than drop an extra hundo on a chain as well. And yes, that would be one down in the front and 2 more teeth in the rear. Your chain SHOULD fit that configuration with no problem. It will just scoot your rear tire in a hair.

Why are you looking to gear it? Stunting? Better down low power?
That is good info if you want some input on what you need to do as far as gearing.

you can keep the chain. Sprockets are cheap.

the front wont be more than 20 bucks, the rear probably around 40-60 or so.

Shop around., of course, after you post up your info.

Stunting? Aggressive street riding? Commuting?

yea you can, after 2k your chain is pretty much brand new. i would go down -1/+1. . that will give you all the extra power you need and your chain length should stay the same

just go -1 in the front and see how you like it. It's noticable.. if you want more then buy a +1 rear sprocket... the -1 will be good for what you are looking for IMO

get rid of the extra rotating mass of the stock chain and sprocket. go get you a 1 down/2 up with a 520 chain.

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me

disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,

Might be a dumb question, but by going -1/+1 would you actually be changing your gear ratios and your final drive? Or would it be offsetting and stay the same since technically you still have the same amount of teeth?
