Default thinking about getting into bikes

Ive never had a bike before, but im looking at getting a small bike just to start with. Partly because i've always wanted to ride, and also with gas going up, i'd like to get something to go back and forth to work on. Would a Ninja 250 be a good bike to start with? I know i still need to take the bike saftey courses and get the endorsement, but im more or less looking for opinions on the bike. Is a 250 going to be to small to even bother with? I also dont have a lot of money to be buying a bigger bike right off the bat.

Start with a big bike, like a Hayabusa or a ZX-14, cuz it takes less effort to make them move, and as you get more skill, you can work down to something smaller and more agile...eventually getting to a pocket bike, but that's just for pro's...

don't bother. bikes are soooo last season.

ok some real advice: yes, a 250 is a good bike to start on. the new ninja 250's are pretty cool. only you can make that decision, though. do what you feel is right and not what everyone else tells you to do, because only you know what's best for you. take the course and go from there.

I think the ninja 250 is a sweet looking ride, if I wasn't a fatass I would give serious thought to one as a daily

Sit on one and take it for a test ride if you know how before you buy. I rode a Ninja 250 and wow, was it a peice of junk. Now, sure it'll get the job done and take you where you need to go, but its up to you to decide if you like the way it feels/rides. A 250 is a great idea to start on.
