its true. ive had one for over a month now and im bored. but i use it to commute so the gas mileage is excelent. id reccomend a 600. good thing though is bikes hold there value really well. so as long as you dont wreck it you can turn around and sell it for close, if not exactly, what you paid for it.

depending on your driving history, I just re-insured my bike (2006 Harley Street Bob) for $150/6 months..

Get it, it's worth it. Thats on a 1450CC bike, so on a 250 it might be even cheaper.

I'm 31 with a clear record and have a 2007 Mustang GT registered with them. Both with State Farm.

a 250 would be a good commuter but like pretty much everyone has said you'll prob get kinda bored...but again price on them is hard to beat..and if you have any kind of record on a bike that is that inexpensive (relatively) it prob wouldn't be worth it, as long as you have health insurance (your health insurance should cover your hospital bills if anything happens)

as far as getting a motorcycle license, can someone give me the full 411 about that...

and as far as insurance is concerned... i hear so many different stories from people, i have heard i dont need insurance, i have heard i only need it if its not paid off, and i have heard i need it but its cheaper if i keep bother my car and bike on insurance... can someone clarify this for me.

and of course, tell me more about this bike im lookin into, thank you, its a 2006. thanks in advance!
Scott, not to sound crazy but,how tall you are & how much you weigh could determine weather to go for a 250 or 500 starter bike.the 250 is quite a small framed bike(seat height, bar reach etc)and doesnt have alot of power.try to sit on both types to make sure your comfortable.good luck

Better to start off smaller and go up. So much to learn before stepping up to a big bike. It will make you a better rider in the long run.
250 vs. 500 is a good argument. Just get what you feel right on and dont sweat the rest. I have seen where people on 250s can run the piss out of them just because the lack of power. they are easier to toss around.
If you are making what you consider a big investment in this bike and can afford the Insurance. then go for it. Peace of mind is a good thing

He'll get 'bored' huh?

Yeah, I can see how you might think that. Afterall...a 250 won't do 10 seconds in the 1/4, or top out at 180MPH....on PUBLIC ROADS....Jesus, people. Its like you're setting the kid up to be another 'rider down' statistic and die.

Learn on a 250, guy. They're decent bikes and awesome on gas.
