Default Lit Wheels on a sportbike

I saw this for the first time last night when I popped out to the store. My initial reaction was "Oh joy, Bike Rice" but I relized that I spotted the guy from about 300yds out in moderate traffic. It looked like a GSXR of some sort with white wheels and green light shining onto them.

I still have really mixed feelings regarding the tastefulness of such a mod, but I did see the dude from a ways off so maybe there is a safety argument to be made here.

Anyone use these of have an opinion on them?

Yeah, I'm all about visibility, but hmm...

Maybe they were the illuminated valve stem caps?

i put the flashing LEDs on teh motard for riding at night, it def grabs the attn of people and looks damn cool with a ring of light floating in the air too! lol As for neons illuminating the wheels, eh...I see it on cruisers alot, dunno if Id do it to a sport bike unless it had chromed wheels and offered something else.

I actually thought about putting some LED lights on my bike to make it more visible at night but just couldn't stomach how it made the bike look. I see cruisers all the time that have LED lights to light up the engine, frame, crome, etc. Personally I think it looks bad.

I don't think I have ever seen exactly what you are talking about with the rims lit up, maybe it doesn't look as cheesy I imagine it, but based on your reaction it does. I guess it comes down to personal taste, but I would rather wear a reflective jacket than rice out the bike.

led valve stem covers arent bad IMO, you cant see them except for at night and if its color matched i think it looks cool. Bike manuf. need to start applying their decals in a reflective type of material that looks normal but is highly reflective IMO.
