Default Winch Problem - Will NOT retract line

Where my good ole boys at?

The winch (Warn 2500) on one of my 4-wheelers is giving me grief.
If will feed the line out just fine.
However, when I attempt to have it pull the line it, all I get is the "clicking" sound coming from the relay / solenoid.

The winch is relatively new, only been used a few times.
It's last use was two weeks ago.
It was a little touchie then, but I was able to get it to work.

I have checked the electrical connections and grounds.
They have been cleaned and reassembled.

The sound is very distinct, but no effort is visible by the winch to retract the line.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

jump the solenoid if it works, replace the solenoid, if it doesn't and has power, the motor is bad. smack it with a hammer like you would a starter on a car.

And despite common misconception, performing a wheelie to be more visible while passing a vehicle isn't the best practice in the DMV's mind.

Yep, it's the solenoid / relay.

That can be covered under wrnty also. If not I have one for a differnt winch that you can have.

Warn did a recall last year and I have a few still left over from then. You more then welcome to pick it up and see if it will work.

man...sucks to hear, WARN is supposed to be "the shiznit". Like whatif you were alone in the mountains on that beast, ur supposed to trust your wench, thats why they have them. Im sure Warn would be happy to replace your wench with a nice little letter sent to them. If not Im sure you could do more than $700 worth of damage to there reputation by starting threads on 4x4 forums and shit

It's all good.
I has a 1 year warranty, parts & service.
Solenoids in general are quite prone to failure.

thats not good to hear at all though...I mean i understand the abuse those electionics are put through (mud, sand, water, tree bark when you miss the trails ) but youd think theyd have a stout mechanism in there. I dunno, Im just thinking how my dad has a 1978 Deutz tractor and he uses it probably twice a week in the groves. NEVER HAS EVER had a starter problem or any of that jaz, and its turning over a diesel engine. They arent making stuff stout enough nowadays Nothing is metal or cast iron, its all plastic and shitty im just ranting, ill stop now, I KNOW Warn makes helluva a good wench, especially when it comes to weight limits and the speed of retraction and heavy duty gear boxes or whatev they use inside, im just saying....
