Default Fighting the wind while wrestling with your Bike...

Ok I haven't been riding too long, so I need your help. How do you manage to not get completely blown off of the highway at 80mph when the winds blowing pretty bad and you feel like your bikes trying to get away from you.

I find it a little better when I put my chest on the tank and just ride while slightly having to push on the opposite side of which I'm getting pushed, but it doesn't help much sometimes...

for the benefit of all of us noobs any suggestions bike tech?

I'm a noob too but I find staying out of other vehicles wake helps greatly if you haven't tried it. I'd also look at your front tire, I switched from a worn touring tire on my FZR to a dunlop qualifier I got with the bike and it seemed to help with stability on the interstate considerably. I'm sure some more experienced riders will chime in but that's what I've found

from what i can tell, differnt bike handle the cross winds differently.

but pretty much it sucks for everyone and you just get used to it, or don't ride on shitty windy days.

crosswinds def suck, I remember one night coming across the Gandy on the way home from QS&L and everyone in front of me was leaned over like they were turning, but they were going straight, the crosswind was so bad you had to lean into it. But yeah, it sucks, just keep your speed down, the faster you go the more difficult it is.

I rode over Gandy bridge on my bike with the wind ABSOLUTELY HOWLING. It was pushing the bike from one end of the lane to the other.

I just cracked the throttle a little harder, held on tight, and loved every minute of it. Whenever a really hard gust came I had to give the bike a little lean, but it really wasn't that bad.

Yea. I just get into that full tuck and hold on. Kinda the same for the rain I was in the other night.

Yeah, with the FJR it would push the bike into the other lane. with the busa, it just seems to lean over without causing much drift.

Also, the faster you go, the better you can handle it. For example, when you feel a gust, rip the throttle a bit.

Something to do with all the spinning parts in the engine helping to stabilize the bike a bit more with gyroscopic forces. Idk. It just works for some reason.

It helps if you flap your arms like a bird.
