It's a 150cc scooter, therefore, you need a motorcycle endorsement to ride legally.

Good purchase though...I wonder...you say you bought it from a guy who had several in a storage unit? Are you sure it isn't stolen?

Have fun and be safe.

tbh if its a 150cc scooter, should take no more than 5 minutes to change the damn oil on it.. get an oilfilter for it and find a guy you know thats somewhat mechanically inclined and i bet he can gederdunn...

Here's the problem. Jonway aka Ranger scooters are made in CHINA. The bigger shops have a grudge, I guess, against scooters made in china. They will not service them.
Yea!
My friend has a chinese made super pocket bike, they wired the brake light to the clutch. So when he changes gears his break light lights up.

Hate to tell you man, but those Chinese cycles/scooters are crap. One reason mechanics won't bother with it because its not worth the hassel for them. Mix-matched parts and inferior craftsmanship. Probably hard to to find the right filter, or they are afraid they'll strip the threads due to inferior metals. If you're lucky yours might be a knock-off of a japanese scooter in which some of the japanese scooters parts might work, you'll have to figure out which one. The Chinese made stuff seems like a good deal until it breaks. Then good luck trying to find parts or getting it serviced. The $850 "value" will be worth next to nothing when that happens. Sorry, I don't mean to be a Debbie-Downer...just my two cents. If I were you I'd try to change the oil myself and think about unloading that scooter before it croaks and getting a good quality used non-chinese bike.

And yeah, what Whicked1 said...go get your endorsement if you don't have it yet.

Default Update

After searching the internet and finding a "new" shop in Mulberry, they said they would service the scooter. I drove out there yesterday and had the mechanic look at the scooter. He said "no problem." They seemed like decent people, but I guess I'll find out.

Also, after contacting several online scooter part stores.....a store got back to me and said that my scooter does not have a filter it has a coil that you wipe off when changing the oil.

This has been such a learning experience, sometimes a pain, but it's ok. The money I am saving by using this scooter is worth it. The question is, a motorcycle next??????????????????

Thanks to everyone for your help and input. And, yes, I realize I kind of got screwed with the chinese make, but that's what I get for not doing my research. I will definitely consult the board when I go to buy my next scooter/cycle.

Thanks! Julie

try partsforscooters.com.

they are over in st pete somewhere. seemed to have a lot of hard to find stuff for my pocket bike.

take the msf course... you get to ride their bikes and that should help you figure out if a bike is right for you.
