Great, moving story. It reminds me of iRobot when he busts out with the Aprilia and they're all like: "Aren't those dangerous". Good luck on the restoration.

i think they were referring to it running on a combustable fuel rather than it being a bike.

Not much going on these days around here. Thought I'd grave rob this old thread.

It took several years. Several bikes that I scavenged a part here, a part there. It's got a couple things that his didn't have like the duel disks from a Euro XJ550. The swing arm is one of a handful made from a company called Cal Fab back in the eighties. My buddy had one but never had the chance to put it on. I was shocked to find one on an old race bike in Phoenix a few years ago. It's all period correct and exactly as I remember it. Runs as good as it looks. My old friend would be proud.









That was my first bike resto. I've done several others since.
