although I agree that your a dumb ass for the example posted, I do know that tunnel vision exists to some extent. I've noticed that the more experience I've had riding at high speed, the less it seems to happen.
I was just beginning to read a twist of the wrist II tonight. The first chapter is all about survival reactions, one of which is over focusing/object fixation. When it occurs, your mind becomes so entranced on an object/path that it's no longer able to process everything else. This leads me to believe that tunnel vision is more mental than anything else.

The only time i had tunnel vision was on a Snowmobile doing maybe 100-115mph through a trail that was no more then 20 feet wide. But i was pretty scared a deer was going to jump out or something so like someone posted above its just the concentration of it all.
