No they can't do whatever they want. They can give you a break.
They gave you a break because they knew me. Lets be honest if you were a cop and I knew you well and my friend went down. Would you give him a ticket? Think about it.

This thread is talking about a poor choice a deputy made. He paid the ultimate price. End of story, he is human just like you and I and the funny thing is, if you met the Deputy you would think he was one of the nicest cops you could meet. But he had a problem with drinking apparently just lucky he didn't hurt anyone else. If you only knew the shit cops put up with. My point here is Brian stated that we get harrassed for our tags or modified exhaust. Well there is a law and they normally enforce it if someone is being a clown. Now Brian you know your tag can't be seen. But you think you shouldn't be pulled over for it? Really you haven't been bothered much about it. So it seems because one cop made a bad choice. That means we can do what we want now and shouldn't be stopped. Its almost like saying because one rider runs from the cops we should all pay for it???
I agree that some cops take advantage of there power. But there more good than bad. For your info the cops that were partying with the deputy that died are under investigation with internal affairs. So again they can't do what they want.

Friends look out for each other... ya'll need to quit talking like cops are an exception to what friends should do for each other... they are not from another planet...

If you ever got a break for doing something stupid at work, or got a position a more qualified person deserved, or got a financial assistance you didn't really need cause of your friends then STFU and consider yourself above the Law\Rules...

Bottom line here... don't fucking drink and drive. I don't care who the fuck you work for, it's equally stupid and makes your peers look bad.

Everyone always has nice things to say after someone dies. When have you heard about a person dying that you know and someone going wow that guy was an asshole he deserved it . I guess i hold police officers to a different standard on drinking & driving considering their whole job is based around arresting people for it. And as far as what cops put up with, hell everyone has problems. That's no excuse, and if their job is causing them to drink and drive....it's probably time to rethink your career.

I know i should be pulled over for my tag . I really don't care though. I'm not going to run from the police, so the worst they can give me is some sort of ticket. Totally different than me drinking and driving and wanting to be let off. And no because this cop made a bad choice does not mean we can do what we want. It's funny for instance however cops give us a hard time for hanging out in a parking lot talking, like we are criminals and about to "stir up some trouble" and then two days later will probably be out drinking in driving. It's life, it's bullshit, karma is a bitch.

And it's kinda sad that someone has to die before anyone notices cops are drinking and driving. Shit should have been reported to IA by someone a while ago. The only reason they are investigating it now is because they have no other choice. It's still being kept quiet however, if this was a civilian matter it would have been front page on hernando times.

There's a huge difference between climbing the corporate ladder by way of ass kissing or networking, or not getting fired for doing an account wrong because your manager likes you and actually getting off for breaking the law. I guess since the owner of the company i work for likes me and promoted me to manager at my brokerage firm, that im on the same level as a cop that gets let off for doing 60 in a 45 lol. The police officer should not be ticketing people based on how he feels that day. He should treat everyone equally. Hell i've gotton three tickets since october, it sucks but i deserved them. Maybe if i had my uncles (who is a police officer) family stickers on my car i would have been let off

....I got a lawyer and got all points removed, still had to pay the fines. Apparently the income from me is worth more than punishing me with points. If they kick me off the road with too many points they wont get anymore revenue from me

being a cop is like having a live time get out of jail free card... hell they even have stickers for their's and famlly cars, so other cops know not to treat them like the rest of us.

exactly...

there are three kinds of people that become cops...
the major group wants to be a cop so they can get away with whatever
the other main group wants to be a cop so they can "be a hero by getting those punk kids
the other, very small group wants to be a cop to actually serve and protect, but don't worry, they will change sooner or later to fit in with the rest of the cops...

Police are civilian's arnt they? the last time i checked they dident have to sign there life away for minimum of 4 years with a dept. and go to a warzone, and last time i checked they could also get fired lol.

Police are nothing more than the guys on the otherside of the law, but they are given a badge and steady pay to take down there would be drinking buddys. instead of braggin about running, they brag about chasing. instead of braggin about jacking a car, they brag about finding a jacked car or theif. same shit just mirror image. given the opportunity to get away with there crimes, they would do them just the same as we would. Think about the type of person who wants to be a cop... ill tell you. there fuckin adrenaline junkies just like us but get payed to fuck around chasing people and being dicks.

Real criminals are above the law anyways. Real criminals nobody even knows are criminals, they dont have records and there not in the system. So all the police do is stop the petty shit. Witch is us (doing a wheelie) or going (15 over).

Police: To Protect and Serve. AKA, They i guess they protect us by stoping us having fun by giving us tickets, and they serve the tickets to us. You have to admit the police's main funtion in todays soicety*sp is to deal with traffic. and reduce traffic deaths etc etc. On the side of there car it doesnt say "Police: To Track down & Arrest CRIMINALS."

/end of rant

i look at it like this.
Cops, real, true, honestly hardworking cops, deserve more respect than we can give. Kinda like Firemen.
The problem is, Cops don't do the right things to earn that respect. If you are going to be a fireman, you are a fireman all the time. If you are going to be a nurse, you are a nurse all of the time. If you're a nurse and you have too much to drink and get a ticket for "drunk in public," you can have your license taken away. So these people have to live "properly" all of the time, regardless of the stress. My coworkers father is a firefighter, and he was telling us about his buddy that was let go because of a DUI. And something is telling me that firefighting is alittle on the stressful side. Teachers have rules that dictate everythign they do. Even in the middle of summer vacation, they can get in trouble just for having one of their students in their car, drunk or not. Teaching is stressful.
So you have all of these jobs that "normal people choose to do that dictate what they can and can't do. But the moment one of these "normal" people becomes a cop, everything they do is excusable because they have stressful jobs and they are just "normal" people, and "normal" people make mistakes, so its ok.
No, normal people make mistakes and they have to deal with it, they can't just write it off because their job is stressful. Cops shouldn't be allowed to do so either. I don't care how stressful it is giving that kid in the civic with a fart cannon a ticket, you still have to act professional, all of the time. Until then, they are still gonna be the pigs that everyone knows they are....

i'll back that up with, not every cop is a pig... just the ones that think that handing out tickets for traffic violations is the most stressful job in the world....
the cop that goes out of his/her way to help someone in trouble, on or off duty, now they deserve the respect. There are a few of them. I refuse to belive that they are all pigs... i just haven't ever seen one....
