I don't know anything about this specific incident, but I can tell you that it is not just killing people on bikes that goes un-noticed down here... If you research just about any traffic fatality the person at fault is rarely charged with a serious crime and virtually NEVER does any jail time (unless they have a warrant or something un-related).
In my opinion if you are at fault in an accident with fatalities you should do jail time, period! It doesn't matter if you killed a biker, a pedestrian, another motorist, whatever. It also doesn't matter if you were drunk, eating a bowl of cereal, talking on your cell phone, doing your make-up, changing the radio station, etc. If you kill someone because you were not paying attention while driving, you go to jail. It is the only way people will stop doing everything and anything other than driving while driving. Just my $.02

RIP rider. old people definitely need to be screened after 55. they need to have an eye and reaction test at the DMV once a year and if they fail then they lose their driving privelages. if you look at 40% of most traffic accidents old people are the culprits.

but you CANNOT always count on a driver stopping and looking both ways, EVER. She's at fault, but I sure hope he tried to take appropriate measures at least.

Everyone who rides knows the danger by now, being careful isn't enough to save us...and old people on the road, turning into our path doesn't help matters.
It really sucks for his family and friends, but it could happen to any one of us....tomorrow. I am still not riding after my accident......I wish I was though, even after reading these kinds of threads.

So it wasn't all her fault. Him and his buddy were driving nuts where they definatly shouldn't have and...well....nobody expects to see a bike doubling or tripling a speed limit like that.RIP and for the love of god, ride SAFE people.
