When you're scrubbing off speed in a straight line, yes you do want your body fairly close to the bike, which is why i think i confused you when i told you i hang off the bike corner entry... this is why i hang off the bike: once I start to trail brake, i want to put the most amount of weight in the direction im going. If you go into a corner close to the bike on the brakes, its harder to turn because all that weight is still going in one direction... I promise to explain this a little better if we meet on a ride or something its all about shifting your weight around

So kinda simply said, the more weight on the inside of the bike the better it will turn.

ThankYou...

wow, so much to read thru. so many different opinions and so many of them close to being good but so far from being the right.

first off, IMO you need to get off the bike more (period) the main reasons to getting off the bike in corners is not just "so you can carry more corner speed", but you want to move the center of gravity to the inside of the bike, plus getting off the bike more helps keep the bike more up right so you keep a larger contact patch of rubber to the road, street tire especially, running a larger tire can help but you still can and will run out of contact patch if you dont get off the bike,
now with putting that knee out and using it as a guage, that is true to an extent, but first you have to get off the bike, just throwing that knee out there and hoping to drag it while still having your butt super glued to the center of seat wont do anything, you will lowside way before you get that knee to touch.
finding a comfortable riding position is key, but you want to try to either "kiss the mirror or put your tit over the inside edge of the gas tank", try to move your body as one (pretend you have a 2x4 tied to your back) not just slide your butt around the tank
also track tires have more lean angle to them than street tires.

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me

disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,
