Why isnt there one locally around here? I had this idea that one day i could go about buying a bunch of property out in the middle of nowhere locally and getting sponsors to partner up with to build a track. why hasnt this been done yet?

 

Too much red tape and money...it's been discussed multiple times as far as drag strips and the like are concerned. They're shutting down the drag strips one by one.

 

They attempted to have it done in Pasco county as well. The land was purchased and the plan needed to be authorized by Paso, it was turned down because it didn't meet the "County Vision" for their business plan/model.

Unfortunately we are the minority here - and until there is a larger concerted effort with the support of those in power, we're stuck.

 

does it have to be public??? we could havea private build just out of tampa, have a collect owneriship(if it was just regular guys raising money) clear land and put a track down. they really cant tell you waht to do with your land. I mean there are back doors to this kind of stuff arent there?

 

They tried to build one out in Zephyrhills. It was shot down because of the noise ordinances. Even though you have private property, you still have to abide by the ordinances or loose your property, that's why no one has done a private one. I looked into it years ago and it just wasn't worth the headache and to get away from all the residential land that I had to, I was gonna end up in Brooksville some where. Then the minute the surrounding land gets built up, I'd be screwed so I gave up.

 

thats why you would just run properly mufflered cars

 

but what of bikes? muffled or not 5 digit RPM's on bikes are loud as hell
