You bought a ZX12 for your first bike???

It should open up above 7,500...

Welcome,

Has the bike sat for any length of time? You may have a partially clogged fuel injector. Is the air filter clean? Possible clogged exhaust. I'd focus my search on getting air/fuel into, and exhaust gases out of, the engine. You could have out of sync throttle bodies, but that doesn't have quite so drastic an impact on the bike in my experience.

Ignition issues typically span the whole rev range, but it may be worthwhile to change the plugs and wires, although I'd be surprised if that was necessary on such a young bike.

is it seriously that fuckin fast. i think its fast ass hell, but i came out of mustangs that were running 11's. the guy that had it before me let it sit for like a year. he took it to the track once and had the time slip for 9.541 in the 1/4. do stock ninjas run that in the 1/4? he said it was bone stock. like i said im new to bikes and want to learn. let me know when and were you guys meet and ride. so i can have a couple of you check it out.
