Default riding impression Buelllightning XB9SX

anyone have or been on one or similar buell?
sat on a new one seemed taller than what I am use to-
I like the look of the bike but not sure I would like its riding characteristics.
My other bikes were a Honda F3 and I still have a 916 Ducati-
Any input is appreciated- oh and also maintenance compared to other bikes-

thanks in advanced

I test rode a Buell City-X about 18 months ago. I loved the riding position, the wide bars, engine and looks of the machine. I also remember it feeling very nimble and willing to do what I wanted it to. The transmission was absolutely terrible though; very notchy and hard to find neutral. I was dead set on a V-twin bike at the time. Considering the price they were asking, the transmission was unforgivable, so I bought an SV1000s instead. If I were going to do it over, I'd have to check out a Speed Triple. I really like the aggressive naked machines. The SV1000 doesn't have the looks of the Buell or the Speed triple IMHO. It has been a great machine though.

Buells are fun bike to ride with their short wheel base and tons of torque, the only downside is that the bike dont have allot of top end, 2 buddies of mine has the XB12 and they top out somewhere around 120 or so, but both can ride the wheels off it in the twisties, and its a great cruising bike, but be prepared, they do vibrate allot.
I still would give the 2 thumbs up!!!!

Default S1 lightning

You've probably already bought something by now, but thought I'd throw my impression out there. Having owned Harley's before the Buell I loved the torque and power curve, but if you are used to japanese bikes, you might not be too crazy about it. Personally I'd go Duc or Aprilla if it were me. I test rode an S4 and it was awesome, but the Aprilla "naked" bike was the strongest, and smoothest machine I've been on! Looks like we have a ton in common...
