Actually don't even compare it to a HJC! Compare to a ARAI....

The Helmet Harbor - Helmets and Apparel at Great Prices

Scorpion™ is, quite simply, the next wave in motorcycle helmet and protective gear design and manufacturing. Scorpion™ Helmets are engineered by some of the world's most sought-after helmet designers, with over 178 years of cumulative experience. And their wild, innovative graphic designs are created in hotbeds of extreme-sports creativity all over the world, from Europe to Southern California, to stay two steps ahead in this fast-moving field.

“We build every Scorpion™ helmet to some of the most rigid quality standards in the industry,” explains Sloan. “Whether you choose a Fiberglass/Kevlar™ Scorpion™ helmet or a Polycarbonate Composite Scorpion™ helmet, you’ll always know that it was designed and built by meticulous craftspeople, using the latest, most sophisticated technology, in one of the most modern, most cutting-edge helmet factories in the world.

Our state-of-the-art factory campus—“The Big Nest”—is the reason we can offer such amazing quality at such a reasonable price. Most other helmet companies farm out different pieces of their helmets to other companies—or just buy their helmets from another company and stick their own label on—, so they don’t control exactly how—or how well—they were made. We make everything but our street bike face shields in our own controlled environment—and even the shields are made very close by, in an equally advanced and controlled facility. We know it’s done right—because we do it ourselves.

How good is a Scorpion™ helmet? Well, I like to put it this way. What’s the difference between a $600 helmet and a Scorpion Helmet? About four hundred bucks.”

Don't trust us? Here is what JD Power had to say about the Scorpion. While Arai took top honors, look who else scored a 5 out of 5 score... HERE (Open the window all the

I now have my second Scorpion helmet. My dad crash tested the first and it did it's job remarkably well. He took a pretty big hit on his head. He didn't even realize that he landed on his head until a few days later when, after pulling out the liner I saw the cracked foam, and asked him how his neck was feeling. That was an EXO 400 (black and silver Octane). I replaced that lid with an EXO 700 (Red Fury). I also have an HJC CL14 and used to have a CL12. I like the Scorpion lids, much better.

They're both very comfortable, look nice, and relatively inexpensive.

I'd be very hesitant to compare them with an arai...weight is a big deal...if its has heavy as most HJC's, and other under $200 helmets- thats why their that cheap. A good helmet is strong and light and quiet. The one i saw at the pawn shop was an XL...but it was heavy, and didn't look like the ventilation was very good. the price difference seems to be R&D to me, thats why Shoei, agv, arai, and suomy helmets are so expensive, because they're engineered to be the best. It'll be a long time before they're competing against the big dogs.

I love the helmet its quiet, Comfortable, has great ventilation.

Read about it at helmet harbor.... Great Helmet or JD powers wouldn't put there remarks 5 out of 5 right with Arai.... But then again I own one. the 400 is a lil heavier than the kevlar one...

you should really get familiar with the safety standards these helmets are designed to meet. since it is obvious you aren't here is a clue... they all transfer way too many g's to the brain and can be better, as true safety r&d is being done and purposely ignored by the strong marketing hype behing having a snell sticker on their lids... an absolute shame!

a good helmet would distribute the force of impact across it's shell, simple physics show a strong shell transmits instead of absorbs.

the best way to chose a helmet at the moment is by fit, since that is important in case of an accident. We all have diff shape heads, so always check what fits.

do enough research, and you will find that the reason a helmet is so expensive has nothing to do with safety... but brand name & racer replica schemes.

and contrary to your claims, the most free air flowing helmets used by the racers are the noisiest... physics again at work, due to air rushing through small spaces...

you'll be surprised by the science behind it all... science is totally ignorant to brand types...
