i forget what it is called but it starts with an R and it contols the spark/charge. it is a common problem with the early cbr's

so the rectifier controls the spark? wow i thought it woulda just been the charge lol

cuz i know the bike has a charging problem cuz it kills the battery after 10 minutes of running time

gosh i feel like a jackass lol, i mean hey cleaning the carbs im sure was still a help none the less

i feel better now that someone seems like they agree about something lol

and seriously thats a 160 ish dollar part so i feel better about buying that now

i found a good page to help give me some info on the R/R

http://www.cbrforum.com/m_199676/tm.htm

thanks guys i'll see if this works

Oh, sorry i wasn't aware of your charging problem also. The place you have to start is hook a multi-meter up to find the output of your generator...and if that is good, the only thing that would limit it after that would be high resistance in wires, bad plugs, a bad rectifier, etc.
Basically start at the source and work back...nothing worse than getting stuck with a $160 part that you didn't need

yea that is the part i am talking about regulator/rectifer.

it is responsable for contoling the charge from the "alternator" which inturns supply's the power to the coils and allows for the spark plugs to fire. this is a common problem with that bike.
