If you dont have ANY riding experiance (dirt bikes etc etc)

I would say to stay with the 250.

But then again it would be outgrown very fast.

If you can deal with the look of the 500R.That would be a perfect bike to start off with, due to its size and power.

But then again on the route I went.I got a brand new bike, but I had riding experiance since I was in the early teens.

I would say find a used street bike for about 3-4k.One you wouldnt mind riding around after you learn how to ride it.

Find one thats easy to get parts for if you do lay it down.I have seen some nice mid 90s to 97 ish bikes on here. But i dont know how hard it would be to find plastics.

I own a Sv650s and its a great bike for me. Granted I learned on a Buell but this is my first daily ridden bike.

Get a 600, you'll be far more happy with it, not difficult to get used to either and you wont get tierd of it.

thanks

what i ment by cruising around is that I would ride to work, ride to school sort of thing. I'm looking for a bike that would be good for that, but at the same time, be fun to take out on the weekends.
I really don't like the cruiser type of bike. they have some nifty bells and whistles. If I was going on a cross country road trip, then I would look into one of those.
Part of the appeal of the 250 was that is was only 3,000 new. The plan is to save up and drop the cash on the counter.
I'm gonna look into the sv650.
I really appreciate the help

zzr600 kawasaki! best 600 starter...250 helps you learn the fundamentals...but if you take the MSF course, i'd say go ahead with the zzr600, or a gsr500 zuki.

I wish this was street legal. I'd really like to have a goof off toy for the streets. Maybe a CRF150 done up supermoto style.
