So comming home from work after re-aligning my fairings because some of the gaps were a little off at about 8:00pm today (friday 12/1). I go to get off the interstate, am taking a left (to head east bound) on 22nd ave south in st. pete. Next thing i know there's fucking headlights right near my right leg, i lean into the turn harder to try to creep along the edge of the median because the car that ran the red light was in the middle (of three) lanes. Car t-boned/sideswiped me launched me off my bike, luckily the bike just layed the rest of the way down and slid about 30 feet, then the lady (who was black-this comes into play later on...) realized "threes a motorcycle!" and slammed on her brakes, i went flying down the road tumbling and rolling.
immediately, looked at my bike and went to walk and my whole body was aching, i went and laid on the sidewalk, and the lady called 911, cars kept slowing down to look and ask "are you alright?!" then about a minute after i went down a van stopped and this fat black lady got out and said " don't move, i'm a nurse" and then she went and talked with the lady that hit me and they were just shooting the fucking breeze.
So here's how it goes, i asked the lady why she ran the red light, she said because "she thought it was turning green." She never said sorry.
She then changed her story while talking to the police and said her light was green and mine was red. then the other fat black lady said that she saw me pass through on a yellow, then backtracked and said red. The officer couldn't use her as a witness because she changed lies...i mean stories. I know for a fact that the light was green when i initiated the turn, and i saw it turn yellow as i saw the headlights by my side. So thanks to the great citizens of south st. pete nobody else stopped. so no witnesses means no citiations, means no coverage for my property damage, medical bills, ambulance ride ETC...
Then my brother who showed up to take my bike away, said the lady who hit me got her car towed. I'm a mechanic and i saw her car, it needs a bumper cover and a grill...so she might try to sue me; What the fuck do i do now? My mom said her friend thats an attorney (Mr Ruth of "Beltz and Ruth") would be able to get me a settlement, but i'm curious how because there were no witnesses.
Anyways after X-rays of my shoulder and foot, just had a few torn ligaments and severe bruising. My helmet is done, my jacket did its job and didn't even wear through, and the next best safety device that saved my hip bone, my leather belt, got worn down, this is a tough leather belt too, i'd hate to see what my hip would look like without it!
