Remember they look for warrants, no DL, and anything they can get you for in these checkpoints!
DUI checkpoints set for Dunedin and Clearwater
It's that time of year - for parties, drinking and, of course, sobriety checkpoints. Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies will conduct two this weekend in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration DUI Sustained Enforcement Program. Deputies will be at Dunedin Highland Middle School, 70 Patricia Ave., from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and at the Kmart at 26996 U.S. 19 North in Clearwater from 12:30 to 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. About 30 deputies from the Sheriff's Office DUI Enforcement, Traffic Enforcement and K-9 units and the transportation section will be looking for alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers as well as for other traffic violations, including driver's license, registration, insurance and equipment violations. Statistics show that in 2005, there were 1,631 alcohol-related crashes in Pinellas County, which resulted in 1,162 injures and 39 fatalities, according to the Sheriff's Office.
