nitrous on a stock motor?
well i have the chance to get a nitrous setup on my bike for cheap but im worried about how long my motor will last. A buddy of mine has a 40shot on his 04 1k and has been fine but he hasnt done many runs with it, so im still worried.
Just wondering if anyone on here has been spraying a stock motor and if they have had any problems.
thanks

if done right its not much harder on parts at all... best way to look at it is this, would you worry about building a NA motor for 40 more hp? no one would, n2o is just a little more picky about the fuel and timing, not really the hard parts (unless you spray it at a very low rpm)
where you run into trouble is in the tuning... with stock compresion you really should have something to pull some timing, a way around that is to run it a little richer, just to be safe... say 10.5:1 instead of 11.5:1 but either way, if you have a good tuner and a wide band that data logs A/F. you can run at little 40 shot without worrying about hurting anything.
once you get up over a 100shot then you better know what your doing.(pulling plugs and reading them after every run and shit).. but 40, blah, you could damn near fart 40hp.
if your still worried at all about it... just run some 117 leaded race gas (after you remove the wideband o2) and you covered.

with ntirous you get the same compression down in your crank as you do in your sombustion chamber which isnt the best thing but if you dont spray all the time and you run your bike a little richer you should be fine just my 2cents

i run a 30 shot on mine all the time... i had it tuned on a dynojet so i didnt nuke anything and i have 25k on my motor and about 3k is with the nitrous... theres a few rules with it... dont hit it below 5k, always be wot, and dont hit the rev limiter and you will be fine. btw when i use my 15 shot in 2nd gear the bike stands up. with the 30 shot when i spray in 3rd it either breaks the tire loose or if its sticky it will stand up...
i haven't tried it yet because i have a carbed bike. secondly i have always used a wet kit in my car. i don't really know how feesiable it is to run a wet kit on a carbed bike. so i am under the assumtion that i would have to use a dry kit. i know how quickly dry kits can make things go bad. and that is currently keeping me from running it.

J@meson, its best to run a window switch, WOT switch, FPSS and OPSS with a nitrous setup. for the utmost safety...if your wideband is equipped with an auxilary setup, you can more then likely purchase a relay hookup to cut the kit off if the a/f reaches an unacceptable limit.
anyways sl2racer,
you have to run a wet/direct kit with a carb, there has to be a way to add the extra fuel.

i knew you had to add the extra fuel. i just couldn't figure out how it would work with a carb. since my bike actually has a fuel pump i guess i would be able to tap the fuel line and run it but i would hate to lean out the fuel going to the carbs since it seems like that fuel pump couldn't possiable be moving alot of fuel.
