Default Tapping noise

So after riding some tonight, I stop and leave the bike running (2003 gsxr 600) with about 5,800 miles. and I hear this tapping noise, sounds like a light metal tapping noise comming from the engine area, seems to be constant, i looked around to see if anything was loose and found nothing, i dont hear this noise when i first start it when cold, but after riding for a bit i can stop and hear it. Anyone have any ideas? engine has oil in it and it is at the correct level, i am the 3rd owner and the bike has been well taken care of, and ive only put about 600 miles on the bike so far. Anyone Reccomend a place i can take it to have it looked at around the brandon area, and i dont really feel comfortable taking it barneys, or for that matter anywhere really - thanks mike

how old is the oil? It might just need an oil change. When my bike is due for one it tends to get a little noisy. I would definately try the cheap fixes first before getting into the engine

not to be negative or jump to conclusions but that sound identical to my bike. i was sitting a light after riding for a while in 1st with the clutch in and all of a sudden that tapping noise started, your could be diff than mine but it never happened when the bike was cold i thought it was loose hardware but couldnt find anything loose or missing...ended up being the tranny....99 gsxr 750 paying around 2 gs to fix

if i read his post correct this bike only has 5,800 miles on it? If its something major thats gonna suck. I guess it aLL depends on if it was hard miles or not, I guess it could be the tranny if people were shifting without the clutch etc..

i havent changed the oil, so the oil is pretty old, I can try that. and yea the bike only has 5,800 miles on it so i really hope it isnt tranny related. I dont know too much about bike engines/maintence so i dont really understand "auto cam chain tensioner hasent made the next adjustment yet." Is this my problem? and what do i do to fix it. If anyone would like to take a "listen" to it i wouldnt mind riding it to meet someone. Thanks, mike

Also, mine seems to make the noise in 1st with the clutch in, and in Neutral as well, also if i go through all the gears i can still hear it.
