Tapping noise
shit, i wish i could laugh with you
, i had a kawi once....
def not likely at idle. Valve float usually occures only in high rpms and when it floats your piston hits it and goes kabloooey.
It could be what bobster said and the cam chain is slapping the engine case or I'd bet that it is vavle tap your hearing. The clearance between the valve and the lobes on the cam are too great and you can hear it when the cam lobe smacks the valve open. It increases w. rpms right? If thats the case you most likely need to adjust the valves and if your not comfortable tearing the valve cover off your engine take it to a shop.
