Thats true. I havent got to ride any of the newer liter bikes but it seems like 1st gear would be too long for tight turns. Like it would put you too far down in the powerband. I guess I need to rde one to see how it is.

What do you like better about the 954 than the 929?

Another friend of mine that had a 929 then spent a great deal of time on a 954 mentioned that there were significant pwer differences or at least "seat of the pants" differences. For some reason he said it felt more nimble as well. You will do well either way - my 929 rode like a cadillac, handled great, and powered the front wheel up easily. Good luck with your decision.

I like the seating posistion on the 929, is it the same on the 954?

well i'd let you ride the GSXR but i dont want to scare you....

trust me the is plenty of low/mid range out of a new liter bike. you can feel the front forks uncompress at 4k rpm, the front wheel is off the ground by 6krpm. by 10k i'm putting it down without reaching peak hp at 11,500rpm.

but stock liter bikes ride very well with no worries.

The RC51 is an old and dated design. Dont do it to yourself. Unless of course you want to buy a fat bike for the sound.

The 929 and 954 are pretty close in what they do, and how they feel. The 954 obviously has more displacement, but it also has a stiffer frame and (if I remember correct) alittle different suspension.

954 get's my vote out of the 3 choices.

I never rode a 929, but my 954 was an absolutely awesome bike.. I'd take a mint 954 over my bike any day.

Dont worry, as long as it doesnt go sideways going into 2nd I'll be fine How much power does your bike make?

I do agree that the RC is old but it is still a great bike IMO.

Is the 929 frame weak or is the 954 just strong? I've heard that the 954 is twitchy, what do you think?

So why didnt you fix yours instead of buying the 10? How many miles did it have when you sold it? Would you say the 954 is twitchy?

its going north of 170whp, its stock height and wheel base.

full pipe, PCIII (custom map), TRE, BMC race filter, -1 in the front. made 166hp (stock made 153) and the galfer wave rotors, pads, and lines work very well.

getting ready to port the head, increase the compression, and velocity stacks... i've seen 10whp gained on a stock bike just by shaving the head... there is also going to be some cam testing going on (06 GSXR600 cams have a more agressive intake grind, more so then any yoshimura cams, and there has been some speculation about how effective yosh cams are any way. not makeing the advertised power but rather moving the peak hp higher in the rpm's)

it scoots a little bit.
eventually i'm going to do a 1070cc street stroker (210hp on motor) with a 50shot or something. i've always wanted a drag bike, plus i might be picking up a 04-05 R1 (i really like the ergos)

The 929, doesnt have a weak frame they, just stiffened it up a bit with the 954.

954 does like to shake it's head a bit. Nothing that proper suspension set up and/or a steering damper cant fix.

Sounds like you'll have one bad bitch. That would a nasty track bike, but it should make a decent drag bike too

I would get a damper and have the suspension tuned anyways. Everyone seems to like the 954, now I just need to find one to test ride to see if I like it. Did they change anything between 02 and 03?
