Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Hurt In Crash
Posted September 15, 2006 at 12:54 AM

LUTZ - A motorcyclist who was unable to make a sweeping turn was killed late Wednesday when his bike struck two utility poles. A passenger was injured but will survive, authorities said.

Cory Ray Pittzer, 20, was driving his 2001 Suzuki GSXR 1000 north on Hanna Road when he lost control on a curve just north of Kensington Woods Drive. The wreck took place about 10 p.m., Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies said.

The bike went across the southbound lanes and off the west shoulder of the road before striking two poles, deputies said. Both riders were ejected. Pittzer was dead at the scene.

Tyler Crebs McMahon, 19, Tampa, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Both riders wore helmets, deputies said.
