Time to bank once you're out! Well, hopefully.

I'm at the St. Pete campus M-Th. from 11-12:30 so if you're free after and go to that campus, maybe we can hit up some lunch!

Good for you! These days it seems you can't get paid decent w/out a college education. I'm starting my 2nd year and I'm already seeing friends screwing up their opportunity and it sucks...good luck to you!

Congrats..

But if you even remotely want to get into the ITsec field you'd better get a lot more than an associates degree.

Preferably a security clearance with a Masters, CCSP.. etc. Don't think getting 3 certs will get you a job with no experience. Experience>all.

You're about to enter a completely overfilled field where half of the people only work the job because the Navy taught them the skill.

Cisco IOS is good to know, mostly due to the theory as its required for all other routing/switching software, leaning towards a specific OS is stupid, IMO, it's an operating system, and just like programming languages, you need to be well versed in as many as possible to be successful.

"Knowing" an operating system isn't even half the battle when it comes to IT. That's just the beginning.

I'm 22 and a sysadmin, there are probably 5-10 of us CEN/Sysa's on TF, feel free to ask us about the career.
