Default 1997 f-3 a good track bike??!

heard mixed opinions... i know it is older,,heavier,,and has lower h.p.,. it is a 97 cbr 600 f-3,with 24k,jardine slip on,,but motor is stock and runs awsome!! i thought i should buy a track bike with fuel inj, instead of carbs like on the f-3.. will lowering it help ?? i know lowering helps in drag racing, but road course??? any suggestions or opinions welcome!!!!!!!

My last trackday was on my bro's 1998 F3 with a pipe, +2 rear sprocket, and totally clapped out suspension. By lunch-time I was turning faster times that on my 954, believe it or not. I was working a lot less too.

The F3 is an AWESOME trackbike. They run great, parts are CHEAP, more than enough HP to run with all but the experts, and they crash really, really well. Get some rearsets, rebuilt suspension, and go out and embarass those modern bikes all day.

have fun with the f3.. if anything, make THAT the track bike, and get something else for the street.

Lowering the front may help.... but in general you don't have to lower the front much... but as little as 5mm might be a big help in initial turn in...

I would ride the bike as is first & later make changes to see how it feels to you... diff riding styles make ride hight changes hit or miss & not a general improvement.

its not the bike, its the rider.

my buddy here at work has a old like early 80 somthing kawi 500. and he is running faster times at jennings than most . he goes every couple of months. i have never been, but i just know what he tells me.
he says there aer people out there running some bad ass times on 250s.
so it all come down to you.

and seeing from your other post, just cause you can wheelie and stoppie doesnt make you a "GOOD" rider
