how many of you
have either never wrecked your bike (also add how long you've been riding)
or have wrecked and wasnt your fault
im just wandering how many people have actually been hit by other people..all of my friends that ride and the people i talk to that have been down it seems like its always them doing something that caused it..

down is down man. doesnt matter who's fault.
id say its a pretty even split between riders at fault and riders not at fault...ive seen a few people try to stunt and lose it, and we all hear about people getting sideswiped and such too.

doing 40mph in a downpour when I was 15 (20now) I hit a major pothole on the side of the road and wrecked my 125 honda enduro into the grass . Had about 5years experience when it happend. My ring finger was hangin on by skin (compound fracture) and I had to jump back on my bike and drive *thank god for e-start* it a mile down the street to some strangers house and got driven to the hospital. One surgery later my finger works but is numb
i went down around 90. hit the front brakes hard when going across an intersection. cold weather + cold tire and whatever was in the middle of the intersection.
went down hard. But i was still a sqid then. (1st bike)
been riding for 3 years now

I've had 2 street bikes with some where around 25,000 miles between the 2 of them and never been down. Although I can't even count how many times I have been down while riding a dirt bike. 8+ years expierence on 2 wheels.
went down twice, first time, i hit a road gator(piece of semi tire) and not really having time on the bike, kinda just went down, and that happened cause i took my eyes off the road for a split second. my fault, not major, no rash or bad damage, broke the shifter, scraped the left fairing a little bit, broke the tip off the clutch, and a turn signal.
the second one was not my fault, ass hole pulled out and blocked 3 lanes, thats where all my damage came from

Grew up riding anything with a engine (wrecked anything with a engine), if i could get my hands on it i would make it run!!!!! My first real bike i got when i was 12, 1967 honda 440 special. Pulled a bunch of trees out of a guys yard for him and he gave it to me, droped that bastard more times than i care to remember, but they were all less than 20 mph in the 10 acres at my house.
As for now, knock on wood never been down, had some close calls but never dropped it. The worst was the old interchange on 275 N where the traffic light is just past the airport. There used to be a HUGE pothole about 4 inches deep and 20 feet long in the center lane. One night i was riding home from key west got complaicent (sp?) hit that bastard at like 65-70 and went into a tankslapper. Dont know how i corrected it but i did. Pulled over chancged my underwear and continued to my house.

i have never laid my bikes down. well i take that back, i have laid, droped, fliped, and thrown my old r6 but that was a stunt bike. but i have also owned two gsxr's and i have never laid either of them down. I have been riding on and off for about 4-5 yrs now. i have come reaaaaaly close though, mostly due to people pulling out in front of me and such.

Been riding since 18, spilled it at 80 mph low side. Broke my jaw! My fault! 12 years later trying to avoid an accident on the interstate at the Ybor exit rear ended a car doing 35 mpn, broke some ribs, collar bone, colapsed my lung (2nd time), split my liver, kidney and spleen. 1 1/2 years later got another bike cbr 954. Try to take it easy most of the time. I'm 34 now.
I have only been riding street for two years. First year on an SV650, second year on a GSX-R1000. I have never been down, but I have had two REALLY close calls... The first time was on my SV650 with my girlfriend on the back. A woman U-turned in front of me on 60 coming back from ClearWater. I locked up both brakes and still don't know how I didn't end up in her back seat. The other some punk kid in an old Firebird wanted to race me or show off or something, got the back end loose and fish tailed into my lane.
I try to ride within my ability and am always safety conscious, but I am sure it is just a matter of time before something happens that I cannot avoid... I just hope it is a long time!
