This is my argument. I believe that helmets offer a false sense of security in a lot of cases. I know that if I'm wearing a helmet, I'm much more prone to speed and ride behind the curve. Without a helmet, I'm much more alert. Helmet or no helmet, your head hitting the ground at any decent speed and you're likely toast. Wear one, don't wear one, it doesn't bother me, but don't make it a law. There's no reason to give up simple freedoms like that.

i wear a helmet and don't wear my seat belt...

i don't think there should be a seatbelt law or a helmet law but i always wear a helmet because i don't like riding without it and don't like driving with my seat belt on. i like being able to do what i like.

guess I'm fucked up.

i don't believe your going to crash anymore or less with a helmet on either but whatever you feel, go for it, but i agree you can die with one on too.

FRANKIE: false since of secruity because your wearing a helmet....? is it really false though because a helmet is making you safer not a safer rider but knowing that fact that when u go down one day it hopefully does its job to protect

A helmet is going to do you no good if you whack your chest into something and a rib decides to hang out in your lung. I personally ride more defensively without a helmet on; therefore, there is less of a chance that I'm going to suffer any physical trauma, head or otherwise.

im going to let this die because we will go in circles all day. wearing a full leather suit and all gear should give people false since of secruities because if they wreck and fall in a pit of spikes that suit wont save them .....etc etc

I wasn't speaking for other people, I was speaking for myself. If I wear a helmet and gear, I feel damn near invincible on my bike. All that gear kinda takes away the humanity; the very real feeling of the sport. I like to know that if I go down, that's my bare arm and face that's gonna hit that pavement. Makes me think twice about slapping it down a gear and twisting that throttle open.

This man speaks the truth.

Gear is not a replacement for good judgement.

I choose to wear gear, that's my decision, it is an effort to stack the deck as much as possible in my favor.

I crash.... true story...

Well bro

REGARDLESS of how definsive you ride.....that wont change how much you will suffer from any physical trama to your head or the like when that old lady out of no where swerves into you at 50+

But a helmet will

That's a lie and I don't even have to explain myself because this one is obvious.

I remember the guy at CycleGear telling me how Frank Thomas jacket testing is equivilent to rubbing 90-grit sandpaper on it for x amount of hours and then I said, "So, great! If I happen to wreck into a 90-grit sandpaper factory, I should be okay!"

Ok, seriously, just thought I'd throw that one out there. Anywho, are helmets really THAT bad???
