Motorcyclist killed in collision
A Tampa man was pronounced dead after his motorcycle collided with a minivan late Wednesday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Mark F. Mathews, 35, of Tampa was killed when his 2003 Suzuki motorcycle collided with the front end of a minivan at Martin Luther King Jr. and Riga boulevards about 10 p.m.
After the collision, Mathews' motorcycle burst into flames, causing the vehicle he hit, a 2003 Honda Odyssey, to catch fire. The driver of the minivan, Tisha A. Bennett, 28, of Tampa, was reported to have minor injuries. Investigators say charges in the case are pending.
