7 Years of Trying and They Still Can't Catch the Hayabusa

(Atlanta, GA) April 3, 2006 - Mike Slowe aboard his Velocity Racing Suzuki Hayabusa led a dominant Suzuki outing setting new Super Street E.T. and MPH records at the AMA/Prostar MTC Elmer Trett Nationals in Atlanta, GA, April 1-2.
Slowe captured victories in both the Pro Street and Super Street categories. In Super Street, AMA/Prostar's newest class, Slowe reset the ET and MPH records to 8.31 and 176 mph. He defeated fellow Hayabusa rider Daniel Burchett in the final with an 8.45 at 176 mph to Burchett's 9.02 at 149 mph.
In Pro Street eliminations Slowe propelled his no-wheelie bar, street tire Hayabusa to an impressive 7.35 at 193 mph. Slowe defeated Suzuki rider Tim O'Neil in the final with a 7.41 at 199 mph to O'Neil's 7.52 at 189 mph.
"It's a great feeling," Slowe said of his double victory. "The bike ran flawless in eliminations. The 7.35 felt incredibly smooth. It gives me a lot of confidence to start the year like this. The competition out here is fierce."
Heading into round No. 3 of the series Slowe has a commanding lead in the Pro Street points series and is ranked sixth in Super Street.
In 1000 Super Sport it was an all-Suzuki GSXR-1000 final with Velocity Racing Suzuki's Richard Gadson scoring the win over points leader Vince Woska with a 9.26 at 149 mph to Woska's 9.41 at 152 mph.
Top Gas, the 8.20 index sportsman class, also saw a pair of Suzuki's reach the final with Mike Hall defeating Kenny Schwartz.
Other Suzuki victors include Rocky Ward in Super Gas, 9.90 index, and Brandon Teasley in Street ET.
The next round of the AMA/Prostar Drag Racing Series is set for May 6th-7th at Virginia Motorsports Park, near Dinwiddie, VA.
