here is my thinking i road race little stubby pipe is less weight, out of the air flow, and is cheaper when you crash. motogp guys have a stubby little pipe there and it seems to be the new "fad" dare i say it. i think its just cleaning up the tail of the bike. lean and mean

Even though I have one of those stubby looking things, I really like the under the tail look that the ZXRRs and CBRRs carry - just personal preference...I used to love the ducati look. : )
