Default Whats wrong with my bike???

Sup!

I've had my bike for a couple of months now(2002 GSXR750) and steadily i've been hearing this odd clicking. As the time went by it started to get louder and louder till the point i'm afraid to ride it. Its a loud clicking (sounds like rod busted but its not) that quickens in pace the more throttle i give it. I had some opinion thrown out that its some gear in the motor and apparently its somewhat common in gixxers... If anyone has any idea or some clue please help! thanx!

Lex.

Possibly the cam chain tensioner? It's supposed to be auto, but I've heard that they don't work so great.

It could be the cam chain tensioner. However, if you have ever overrevved the bike, you may have spit a rocker shim or broke a retainer. That is pretty common on those bikes. Call Johnny at Exoticycle..he can get you taken care of. 941-360-3278.

Its not the chain nor sprocket tho. Its something within the motor itself. But as i was saying earlier, the clicking (could be a knocking) increases in speed the more throttle i give it. If its the cam tensioner what would u all think it'd cost to replace at the dealer?? or should i do it myself??

could be a valve tap or ticking or something in the valve train. get it checked out. some bike have to get the valves adjusted at a certain point like my bike i think is 20000 miles. c what it is for yours.

everything is notorious for chain tensioners...How is some little hydraullic tube supposed to keep a lifetime of pressure against a chaing going 15k rpms trying to push against it. I've replaced one on my old F3, and one on my old ZX9r, and they're not really fun...but a dealer would probably charge $450-$600 because you have to remove all side fairings, gas tank, valve cover, cam gears...it gets 1/2 way down into the motor...scale of one to ten i'd say its a 7.5. Cheap to do by yourself if you know how. the part is only like $70
