is this illegal
i had a cop go around me and stop his car vertically in the middle of waters infront of me while i was stopped at a light. he got out of his car and asked for my license. i asked him what the problem was and he said i had blue lights, my tag was at an angle and my exhaust was illegal. so he took my license and asked me to pull into the parking lot next to us. as he was going into the parking lot he almost hit a car passing us and left me in the middle of waters alone w/ no helment. he didnt give me a ticket or anything he just gave me my license back and told me to be careful. now my question is are my lights illegal? i pointed out that they were actually white and he didnt say anything.

The law according to a cop I spoke with is "It has to be visible, legible, and the light has to reflect off of the plate." So it's open to interpretation. But the guys who have the 2 white LEDs that don't even point towards the plate = illegal.

I once had some "Night Rider" lights glued to the bottom of my bumber whilst in high school many many moons ago. (they were basically two twelve inch light sticks that had LED lights run towards and then away from eachother). A cop pulled me over once and informed my that only law enforcement were allowed to display red or blue lights on the front or rear of a vehicle (this wasn't on a bike at the time, rather on a beat up Mazda MX-6). Now yours are white, but if they appear blue to a cop, you're in for a lot of stops (without tickets of course). I'd get rid of them to avoid the hassle of some cop on a power trip. Just my 2 cents.
Nevermind the lights, just from the tag angle your going to be friends with a lot of popo.

Technically, you're not allowed to have any other color besides red and white lights on your license plate on the back of a vehicle. Even yellow running lights are technically illegal. You ride a sport bike, so you're a high profile target, that's why you got pulled over. Those lights do look blue though.
They don't do a very good job lighting the plate. Whether or not that was the idea, another reason for them to pull you over IMO.
