Default Physical size of bike question

For some reason I still want to get a bike after reading through the rider down sticky- don't ask me why. It's not going to happen for a while, but that doesn't stop me from hitting the motorcycle dealers every once in a while to check out the bikes.

I'm 6'3". It seemed to me that the 600s were physically smaller than the 750s and 1000s, a good bit smaller. On, say, a ZX6R I can sit with both my feet on the floor and maybe as much as a 45 degree bend to my leg. Not sure on the angle, but the point is, it seems like I'm really close to the ground. On a GSXR1k I still have both feet on the floor, but the angle is much less severe, more straight up and down. It seemed to be partly influenced by the design of the bike in general, because the ZX10R was closer to the ZX6R, though still higher.

What I want to know is what difference this would make in having a comfortable and effective riding position. Is the size difference a big deal? Does the height of the bike have anything to do with how you're situated in riding position? I would much rather get a bike in the 600cc range, but I'm not sure if the physical size difference would be an issue.

If you were looking for a 600 that is taller than most, i would check out the Triumph Daytona 600 or 650. The 2003 and 2004 bikes are pritty tall. I have the 600 and it fit me fine. I'm about 6'2. If this helps. Also the daytona is a bigger bike compared to the 636 or gixxer. Just a thought. If you want to check some out go to daytona600,org. Check it out.

Lots of guys believe that because they are so tall, a 600 cc bike would be too small. In all honesty and measurement, a 1000 may only be SLIGHTLY bulkier/taller. But not by much. I've seen tons of guys your size comfortably start out on 600s.

im 6'4" 210lbs and i love my 600...

lately i have been thinking that i prolly should have gotten something a little bigger like a 750. get whatever bike you like the most, it doesnt matter if its a 600 or a 1000 its only going to go as fast as you make it go and they can both kill you.

Thanks, I've had certain people whose names I won't mention here telling me I needed to get a 1000 because I'm fairly tall (not people here, some friends of mine). I would much rather get a 600 because of 1. less torque (presumably harder to loop it if I panic and slam it WOT for some reason) 2. I like high revving engines 3. I liked the feel of the 600s I sat on better 4. cheaper.
