Keep in mind if you change the gearing (like so meny people do) to gain a little down-low uummpphh.... your speedo will read higher than normal.

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

If you want, I'll loan you my GPS. Then, we'll take a picture.

Yes, they do make a TRE for the 05 / 06 1Ks.
I took mine off.
I did really open up the lower three gears a noticable amount.
As for top end, it does in therory position the bike to go beyond the 186mph restrictor.
The down side is I lost the Gear Indicator functionality.... It constantly read it was in 5th gear.
There are TREs that are more robust and programmable... the Intelligent TRE... I might try one of those next.
Be careful out there... these bikes are not as stable bouncing off the limiter in 6th as the bigger bikes (Busa & ZX12).
I have a spread sheet that I use to determine theretical speeds for given gear ratios. It's helpful when swapping out sprockets to let you know what to expect per gear.
We could possible make a few changes and retrofit it for the 1K.
Be Safe.

some people on this forum need a reality check, or stop with the lies... i hate to sound like a dick and call people out but i have to with some of the shinanagans i'm hearing..

the 05/06 GSXR1000 at 180-185mph will have a very light feeling front end(mine did) between the relativily light weight mixed with the narrow front end and ton of power. the aero will not make a lot of down force thus when under acceleration it will release the front suspension letting air flow under the nose of the bike causing a bit of lift plus the added torque (cause its a 1000cc bike) will already be trying to lift the front anyway producing what i experienced as a floating head. its scary at first cause the bike will flutter up and down giving you light and very touchy handlebars<-- not good combo at 185mph
a way to fix it stiffen the rear spring and sit up on the tank <--not letting you sit all the way back under the wndscreen will increase drag.
as for a tre just get a ivans and put a peice of tape over the gear indicator....bikes for years never had one and frankly i think is a distraction, if you dont know what gear you in you're in trouble anyway. keep your eyes on the road not at your guage cluster.
