Cornering on a 700lb bike, floorboards, saddlebags, and crash guards?

Nothing was easier to u-turn than the Rebel 250 they gave me at the MSF course.

The only problem is that they're heavy, so you're scared of dropping them.

No shit! You have to consider, there are probably a few people who spend every expendable dime they have on a Harley, but most other people view it as a secondary and usually recreational vehicle. Considering a Harley averages around $15,000, I'd imagine that most owners make a considerable amount of money. How else are you going to justify a $15,000 toy when you're already making a car, house, and whatever else payment?

That is average income...I don't make that, but me and da wife combined top it. I just want a real fast bike. That is the reason I traded my cruiser in on the 636, next will be the GSXR 1000. But, not until I can ride this one to death.

I think the income is more related at being at least somewhat responsible. You don't get incomes like that by being irresponsible, you know?
And of course I drink, but I can't remember the last time I decided to knock back a few and go take some hard corners on my bike. Honestly, I don't like taking hard corners at all, let alone drunk.

bt the time i got to the bottom of this thread, i completly forgot what started you guys argument .. so im just gonna tell you why i dont like cruisers :o) Ive ridden several and dont feel safe on them. the brakes are junk and most are pretty slow and worst of all, its a relaxed seating position.. which makes it hard to corner, especially if its needed fast. I dont mind a lot of things about them but generally just dont feel safe at all on one. its like buying a caddilac or sports car, the sports car is more fun and probably be easier to avoid a wreck.. but noone drives the sports car slow enough to even see those benifits. also cruisers are a lot easier to rebuild but you have to rebuild them a lot more often.. ive seem plenty of sport bikes go well over 40k miles before just being pushed aside for a newer bike. not many cruisers get that miles out of their motors. anyway i could go on, and dont really have a point.. just felt like adding my .02
