I was looking at my buddies '99 gsxr 750 and more specifically, at the stay bar. It's completely different than my '05 stay bar. The '05 mounts onto the front of the frame, bends towards the front of the bike, and curves back toward the driver, where it mounts to the mirrors. It's also made of pot metal, weak shit. The '99 stay bar, is made of what looks like steel bar, mounts onto the frame bar that surrounds the tank, comes towards the driver and bends back towards the front of the bike, where it mounts onto the mirrors. I haven't had the 2 stay bars next to each other to compare shapes. Just wondering if anyone knew if it were a simple swap. It LOOKS to me, that all I have to do, is drill/tap to holes in the frame for the '99 stay bar to work on my '05.

Doubtful it would be that easy. You'd be better off reinforcing what you have now.

 

Do you have any ideas on how to reinforce it? It's such a pathetic stay bar.

 

Don't be cheap buy a factory stay. Rigging an 05 is just wrong.

 

It's not a matter of being cheap... it's a matter of havine a stay that won't break anymore.
