How Much, How Long?
I'm looking at buying a bike for the first time and have just been wondering....how much abuse can bikes really take? Miles-wise, etc. Since I'm eyeing used bikes, VFR800FI's specifically, I'm just wondering, how much is too much?
Oh yeah, might as well throw it in.....What is basic maintenance like on sport/sport-touring bikes? I, of course, wanna be riding more than worrying about maintenance schedule and shit.
Thanks all.

The VFR 800 is a good starter bike as well. Especially for someone looking to get into Sport touring. It is the smallest (engine wise) sport tourer made. The bike is rock solid. It's not uncommon to see sport tourers approaching or passing the 100k mark, but you have to stay on top of the maintenance, by the book. When problems come up, fix them. Keep the bike fairly stock engine wise, and you shouldnt have many problems at all.

Does it affect you that much that some random guy 1500 miles away went and paid his own money for a 1000?
Do we really have to fight over who uses the back brake or not?
Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”
