Default Motorcycle training.....

So i go to get my permit at the dmv today.......no one told me you had to be 21!! I'm 4 months away from 20 and it pisses me off i have to spend 200 bucks on a training course, but I guess its better for me anyway right? I've been riding my dads motoguzzi around for the past 4 months around my house. I did a search here on TR and found Highland moto training, called the dude and setup to take the course this weekend at sickles.

Anyway, really looking forward to getting a bike and start riding, it's just these stories of all the wrecks scare the shit out of me. I've never been in a car wreck and think of myself as very careful. ANYWAY, anyone ever taken the Highland couse?

If your'e so scared about all the wrecks you should be eager to take the course. I haven't taken it but try not to think about wrecking either.

Did the same thing.... Shit sucks.

I think they should have a driving test and if you fail it. Then you go to the course. But 0 well.

Doesn't matter what you do or what course you take, you can't learn to be a good rider in one weekend. I'm just glad I lived through my first year, lol. Street riding was a bit scary for me at first, but I put around 9000 miles on a few bikes in my first year and I'm a lot more comfortable now.

I'm assuming the Highland course is one of the many MSF courses. A lot of companies offer them, but they're basically all the same since there is a regulated criteria. I went to the one from the guys at www.mrecinc.com and had a great time. The instructors made it a lot of fun.

yea the guy from highland is really nice. Once you take the class, all you do is take in the cert paper to the dmv and they make you a new ID, no more tests, at all. Pretty shweet deal. And i saw a stat that said 92% of the people that wreck DO NOT take the course..
