Default Might be switching sides....

Welll.... Right now i have a deposite on an 05 R1 (raven).... I have had 3 gixxer 750's and im a die hard suzuki fan. But the 05 gixxer 1k is just not doing it for me.

I originaly was going to buy a clean low miled 2004 gixxer 1k.... But im too worried about how it was treated / crashed / and if that was the actual milage...

I have ridden 03-04 gixxer 1k's and i LOVE them. Very fast. But how does the R1 compare to the gixxers in power? I know they are close in HP #'s but i could of sworn the gixxer made power alot lower ???

It just feels so weird to switch to yamaha. Even tho i think R1 is the best LOOKING bike.

Any R1 riders have any comments about their bike / expieriences?

Thanks.

You just cant go wrong with an R1. They make about the same up top, and your right, the Suzuki makes a little more HP down low and has more TQ. But the R1 can be easliy modified to out power a Suzuki Everywhere. Look at the AMA SuperStock series. That is the mods that most people would do to their bikes and the R1's are dominating.

Does it affect you that much that some random guy 1500 miles away went and paid his own money for a 1000?

Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

I have an R1 as well as a 2005 Busa. The R1 is a FAST bike, don't let anybody tell you different. I dropped a tooth up front and it made a considerable difference in the low end power. I have raced a couple of gsxr 1000's and won by a good bit. But you know as well as I do that rider makes a hell of alot more difference than the bike does. The new ravens look sweet, I say go for it!!

Its all about personal preference. I think the R1 has the best looking front end out there.

Thats me! I absolutely love the bike. It is as nimble as the R6 and just as predictable. Throttle response can be a TAD laggish when not in the power band (due to the exup, which some people remove) , but has nice torque peaks at 6, and 9k+ RPM. I know you like to stunt, and I hear it has a very high balance point. I wouldn't know about that lol... All in all, I Love the bike and dont think you would be dissapointed if you bought one.

Go YAMAHA!

At 600 miles the bike really had no business being on a dyno. The motor is way too tight. It will make more power after some more miles. Either that or the dyno was reading hella low. With a few mods 150 rear wheel is easily obtainable.

Cliff, are you running the Akro map on your PCIII? Does it pop on decel? Just curious.
