On multi-lane in populated ares (not highway...example cruising down gulf to bay) I prefer to avoid the right lane at all costs. I just feel way to vulnerable to some asshat who isn't paying attention and just needs to get out in to traffic. Getting cut off by someone doing 5 mph as they pull into the flow of traffic is much harder to avoid than someone merging into your lane.
