I had it ready to drop except a few mount bolts. After we figured that out, it wasnt too bad. I decided against the pistons cause between those and the gasket, the comp. would be too high for pump gas.

Not to mention, Aftermarket forged pistons are heavier then the stock cast pistons. You'd slow your revs down.

I wouldnt have gone with bigger pistons either, but my cylendars were scored, so I had no choice, but to bore.

Even with high compression pistons and head gasket you can map to run 93 on the street. That's what I'm having to do. The bike runs better on Race fuel and a leaner map, but I do just fine on 93 octane and a rich map.

I had ordered JE 13.5 to 1 pistons. I already had the muzzy thin gasket. I cancelled the pistons cause he couldnt tell me for sure if i could run pump gas for approx. 14 to 1 comp. He said we could play with the valve lap to reduce if needed, but that defeats the purpose for the higher comp. to me. I will be at approx. 13.2 to 1 just with the gasket so im going with that. It also saves me from having to split the case etc..

That's right about where I'm at, 13.25:1. Out of all the stuff I did to my bike, The head work was the most noticable with the most gains. The head gasket isnt going to give you a whole bunch of HP. Maybe 5 if your lucky. You should consider getting the head ported while you have it off.

The heads for the 10 is sent from the factory for a hand porting. I am told that the head is as good as it gets already. I have seen the numbers for just the gasket. Its only 3.5 hp. But when you degree the cams and use a full exaust, the motor shines brightly. I will see...
