Unhappy Ouch..my new R6!

Well ive had my 05 R6 for about a month now, and yesterday i put my new lights and fender remover kits on. Just two days ago i also put my new exhaust on. So i finish putting the ligts on and decide to go for a ride up westshore and back. While im pulling out a some friends of mine are in a truck in front of me, so i decide to pass....as i pass i look over and see a cop, (took my eyes off the road for two seconds and when i look ahead of me again, wouldnt you know theres a huge sandbag that the city left in the middle of the road..Bam!! Hit the bag and then hit the ground doin about 50!! Only had my helmit and gloves on(helmit saved my life cause it bashed several times while i was spinning and sliding) The cop saw it all and suprised me, because i do not have my bike liscense yet, so he comes to me and says that if he writes a report he has to give me a ticket...so he gave me the option of "I can just pretend i was never here, no report , no ticket, so of course, i do. Just thought you all might want to read about my ordeal. To my suprise the only thing keeping me from driving my bike is a broken handle bar, other than that a slightly bent shifter and of course every body panel on the left side is DONE. Well im just gratefull i didnt break anything, just a lot of road rash...if anyone is interested i took pics of bike and my road rash i can post...DAMN. At least my new exhaust didnt get touched

Post the pics! Those shift levers bend quite easily. You go down, you can pretty much gaurantee its going to bend. They are 75$ brand new, Id try ebay. I think all the R6 shift levers are the same part, so check for all years. Glad you are ok.

glad your ok, I hit one of those on 41 one night, but it was already flattened a bit so all it did was kick me and my passenger off the seat a few inches like a buckin bronc.... not fun.

gotta look far enough ahead so if you look away for a couple of seconds, you'll know what's in front of you.

also i'd wonder if it would be worth getting the ticket for not having a license and retaining the right to sue the city or county for leaving a sandbag in the middle of the road. though it would be hard to prove someone didn't throw it out there, so perhaps you made the right decision.

I'm still amazed that people continue to ride without gear on, especially with all the awesome hot-weather stuff that is out there so cheap.

I crashed at about 60-65mph last month and walked away without so much as a single scratch. Thanks gear!
