My Brando jacket is also a fashion accessory, so if I can wear it, I do wear it. At night I actually like having my jacket, I get cold easily.

I went to a local shop and looked at the Joe Rocket and ICON mesh textile jackets in person and I honestly wasn't that impressed.

I was really hoping to find something functional for around $200 that can breath and has some CE armor to protect the pointy parts.

Glad you posted, I had a lot of the same questions.

Florida weather sucks. Leather is best to wear because you won't slide.. but its so damned HOT.

mesh, textile, or both? theyre two different styles.

i have the textile timax, and it has plenty of protection, and if i remember right, the armor is ce approved.

The TiMax line doesn't specify CE approved armor: "3 genuine titanium armor plates.". I noticed that most of the other ICON jackets do actually specify "CE approved" armor as a feature.

Perforated leather is your best bet, hands down.
