Default octane

okay i always use 87 octane because back when my pulse generator was fucked up it would back fire with high octane. but now that it is all good again should i use the higher octanes? i just wanna bring my best game to the track tommorrow since it means i will have to wait a whole week or more before i can go again. hahaha

The lowest octane you can run without pinging is usually the best performing octane. Now, if your bike has knock sensors and shit (if any of them do, i don't know bike computers), you'll retard your timing by using 87 octane. Chances are that you don't have knock sensors though, so as long as 87 doesn't knock, use it.

long story....

but its because they built the motor to need it. stock bikes are not, for the most part.

its all about knock resistance, if its not needed then the extra octane just slows the flame front in the combustion chamber for no reason.

Basically what he said, It has alot to do with load, cars because of weight etc, will see more. Thus high compression and big boost cars need higher octane. Lowest you can use is the fastest.

Race gas smells fast. LOL

Lower octane is better for HP. On the dyno with my 2003 CBR 600RR

93 octane = 99.25rwhp
87 octane = 101.78rwhp
